This is Sadie Louise.  She lives with Nancy in DesPlaines, IL.  Her mommy and daddy are Shadow and Nutmeg.  I believe she is 6 months old in this picture and about 44 pounds according to Nancy.

Sadie Louise Graduates as a "working dog"!! (Oct. 2006)

"Sadie Louise is now actively working in two animal-assisted therapy programs. One is through her Therapy Dog International cerfitication and the other with the Chenny Troupe. Every other Friday Sadie Louie visits the Center for Enriched Living. There she spends time playing and working with young adults struggling with the challenges of a variety of mental and physical problems. Sadie Louise listens to commands from the residents and proudly walks with those in wheel chairs or walkers. She is certainly a favorite there."

"Sadie Louise and I are also spear heading a new program at Lutheran General Hospital. Volunteers from the Chenny Troupe and their dogs work 1-on-1 with young children during their speech, occupational and physical therapies. I am particularly excited to be involved as the same children come each week and so goals are established and measured using animal assisted therapy."

"As you well know, therapy dogs have to be well trained but also need some special sense about the work. Sadie Louise has that. She is an excellent listener even when the young clients are unclear about how to ask her to do something. She works very very hard to get it right!"
